Providing opportunities for our younger actors and theatre enthusiasts,
YAC is a great program for that first time theatre experience.
Plans are already underway for next summer's YAC Production. Keep an
eye out for updates as the season progresses.

Daytona Playhouse Youth Actors Company presented a fabulously funny Cinderella in July to sell out
crowds for three of the four performances. Old and young alike were rolling in the aisles, arguing with the
Wicked Sisters, groaning at the bad jokes, singing along and just having the time of their life. Directed by
Kathy Thompson, this version of Cinderella by Stuart Ardern and Bob Heather is an English pantomime
which has delighted European audiences for years. It was sure winner in Daytona. The audience was
encouraged to "dress up" and the theater was filled with all sorts of fairy tale characters; princesses,
mermaids and tinker bells.
Before the Show the audience was invited to Cinderella's Fair organized by Cheryl Weber and Doreen
Barca. Miniature golf, face painting, ring toss, bean bag toss were just a few of the games the children
could play to win tickets for a prize of their choice. Through generous lending of awnings (most notably
Carter's Family Rent-All) we were able to provide some shade from the sunny July heat. Even working the
Fair was apparently lots of fun as volunteers signed up for additional days after the first weekend.
The cast consisted of 32 talented children from ages 11 to 17 and include some veterans of our stage as
well as a fair number of newcomers both to Daytona Playhouse and the stage. The audience was invited to
join the cast on stage after the Show and have their picture taken with any cast member. The actors were
thrilled to be signing programs and t-shirts for the children.
It was just an incredible experience for everyone - the actors, the crew, the volunteers and the audience -
a fun family afternoon for all.
