Auditions will include a prepared 32-bar musical selection (please bring a music track cut or sheet music of one minute or less), basic dance (wear comfortable clothing and shoes), and cold readings from the script.
Characters:
Montague "Monty" Navarro: Handsome, clever, and effortlessly charming. Despite his humble beginnings, he is the engine of the plot. He is incredibly endearing even as he ruthlessly orchestrates the demise of his relatives to win a title and the woman he loves.
Sibella Hallward: The woman Monty loves. She is beautiful and self-centered, possessing a keen eye for social status. While she truly loves Monty, her pragmatic nature pushes her to marry into wealth.
Phoebe D'Ysquith: Monty’s cousin. She is book-smart, witty, pious, and selfless. Initially married to Henry D'Ysquith, she grows charmed by Monty, offering a more stable and virtuous contrast to Sibella.
Miss Shingle: Monty’s unexpected and mysterious visitor. She is a former servant who acts as the catalyst for the story, revealing the secret of his royal D'Ysquith lineage.
The D'Ysquith Heirs (all played by the same actor):
Lord Adalbert D'Ysquith: The Eighth Earl of Highhurst and the ultimate obstacle to Monty's succession.
Asquith D'Ysquith, Jr.: An entitled and flashy young dandy.
Reverend Lord Ezekiel D'Ysquith: A deeply hypocritical and off-kilter clergyman.
Lord Adalbert D'Ysquith, Sr.: An elderly, wealthy banker.
Henry D'Ysquith: A country squire obsessed with his rural estate.
Lady Hyacinth D'Ysquith: A wealthy society matron and overzealous philanthropist.
Major Lord Bartholomew D'Ysquith: A fitness-obsessed bodybuilder and war veteran.
Lady Salome D'Ysquith Pumphrey: A transcendently terrible, melodramatic actress.
The Ensemble:
Three men and three women playing assorted roles. Each will have numerous spoken lines, solo lines in musical numbers, etc.
